Domes are like Bubbles

Bill Bensley , 2024

Acrylic on canvas
120 × 120 cm , 47.2 × 47.2 inch

Inside the blue, tiled dome of the bubblegum market tower was a beautifully and perfectly finished interior of tile and brickwork. During their stay in Samakand, Captain Banana would take Sammy on walks there and blow an almost unceasing number of bubbles from the bubblegum he was constantly chewing. It did cure the Captain’s dropsy and significantly reduced his stress.

Sammy was unimpressed though, as he couldn’t blow bubblegum bubbles as well as the Captain could blow his bubblegum bubbles – almost making him bubble with annoyance, gumming up his thinking. This isn’t a place for dogs he remarked, and suggested they continue their journey west along the
Silk Road to more dog hospitable places.
