While many women swooned, thinking about strongly built Mongol warriors and the luxuries they provided their brides, there were many for whom the possibility was an utter buzzkill.
They would exercise their inalienable freedom of contract and right to liberty in functionally visceral ways. Sometimes they would be proactive and visible in their resistance, fleeing to safe havens before the meat market started. Yet others would eagerly join in the pageants and screaming throngs, with hopes of being selected and taken away. These latter would bide their time, waiting for an opportune time to strike, taking deep satisfaction in their patience.
