Perhaps the least liked member of the FKC is Olaf Christiansen aka Captain Banana. Olaf is the younger brother of the Pastor Bender Christiansen and is married for many years to ballerina Catalina! It was not the first time that Captain Banana, known for frightfully foul breath, came forth to woo Heidi with wildflowers. Heidi, eying the two dark and handsome Turkish brothers, just jumped over the cliff, like she did when she was a kid. Heidi hoped that such a seemingly desperate act might urge the two Avci brothers to settle things for good with Olaf! The brothers pretended not to notice and proceeded to the Fish Market
to sell their catch.
Meanwhile Pastor Bender Christiansen was worried. It had been a month of Sundays
since any of his parishioners had showed, despite the new monument to St. Lucy, oh so popular,
he thought, amongst Lutherans. Pastor Bender, a closet knitter never showed any interest whenever Johanna Jacobsen, Heidi’s sister, showed up as everyone knew she
was away with the fairies.
Actually Pastor Bender’s only income was when the FKC rented the church for their knitting get-togethers. The only time that Pastor Bender was seen with even a hint of a smile was when Buttercup offered to knit the giant St Lucy bust a winter sweater. Everyone thought she was sweet.
