The Circumambulating Dogs

As William’s troupe continued their journey west along the Silk Road they stopped for a time in Bukhara where they visited the Samanid Mausoleum. Here, unusually for a Muslim site, a large number of dogs were present, milling about.

Sammy, using his dog radar and dog smarts, watched the dogs closely, and discovered the dogs weren’t aimlessly wandering at all. They were circling the mausoleum tower, creating a type of hive mind, in which they pondered and debated how to stop the silly humans from killing each other in wars and conflicts, and how to get them to channel that ambition into more worthy goals like creating better canine snacks, designing the perfect daybed with just the right amount of sunshine, and understanding the ideal ratio of head and tummy scratches.

Sammy was very impressed and considered joining their noble, and obviously highly intellectual pursuit, but realized that he had all those things already with William, Jirichai and Captain Banana.
