King Muhammad the Great had a brilliant palace on the reservoir where he grew many types of citrus. Just outside the palace walls a small souk popped up early morning filled with dates, carpets, plates, pomegranates and colourful leather sandals, and Williams bubble gum…. all of which could be found much cheaper in Venice.
